Review:
Dear b&p-Team,
6 weeks ago I installed the 123ignition in my '74 beetle. It runs like new. It runs and runs and runs.....
The gas mileage is down to 35 mpg (US)/42 mpg (Imp). That is a remarkable value as most people, who know the beetle from its days were confronted with values like 20 mpg (US)/24 mpg (Imp).
If I tell them my gas mileage I always get the comment that this is nearly impossible.
For me the real environmental protection in the automobile sector is: Maintain and service old cars and drive them as long as possible!!!
Keeping that in mind a modern 123ignition distributor is more than welcome, as you cannot recognise its magical power from outside!
In the next time I'll install new cables and a new coil. After that the gas mileage will eventually be even better.
I don't care if others make developments in Hightec and Bluetec and technical things nobody knows something about. I'll concentrate on simple and effective improvements!!
I'll drive my beetle and my Saab as long as they will run. With the help of Mike Sander (German anti-corrosion guru) this shouldn't be a problem.
Best wishes from an ex-anglophil (Mini 850 MK II-driver)
Thomas Mertens
